A leading developer of clean energy technologies is expanding its engineering team to accelerate the commercial delivery of innovative hydrogen-based systems. This is an opportunity to work at the heart of a fast-moving programme that is developing functional, scalable technology for real-world deployment. As Senior Process Engineer, you will be a key contributor to a multidisciplinary team responsible for the full lifecycle of process development β from early design concepts through to commissioning and scale-up. The role offers a diverse and technically engaging workload, with strong opportunities for personal and career growth.
Responsibilities
- Develop and review process documentation including PFDs, P&IDs, heat and mass balances, and Basis of Design
- Perform detailed calculations such as line and relief sizing, hydraulic analysis, and pressure drop estimations
- Support the creation of control narratives, alarm lists, cause and effect matrices, and functional descriptions
- Lead or participate in equipment selection and liaise with suppliers on specification and procurement
- Conduct process simulations using Aspen Plus or HYSYS
- Analyse experimental and test data to inform process improvements
- Support scale-up activities from lab and pilot stages to full-scale systems
- Collaborate in cross-functional design reviews with mechanical, automation, and development teams
- Assist with costing, budgeting, and performance modelling including consumption and running costs
Qualifications
- Degree-qualified in Chemical or Process Engineering (or equivalent)
- Minimum 5 yearsβ relevant experience
- Chartered or working towards chartership (IChemE or equivalent preferred)
- Strong technical design skills and familiarity with the end-to-end process development cycle
- Experienced in producing detailed process documentation and calculations
- Proficient in the use of simulation tools such as Aspen Plus or HYSYS
- Effective communicator, able to work closely with internal teams and external suppliers
- Safety and compliance knowledge including HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, DSEAR, ATEX and SIL assessments
