This isn’t a traditional maintenance role. You’ll be working in a live manufacturing environment, combining hands-on engineering with controls, automation, and process improvement. The focus is on keeping equipment running, but also understanding how it works and how it can be improved. There’s a key focus on major product areas so you’ll be closely involved in process development work, not just day-to-day support.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and improve production equipment across electrical, mechanical, and control systems
  • Fault find and modify PLC-controlled systems (Siemens preferred)
  • Work with control systems, instrumentation, and process equipment
  • Interpret and work from P&IDs and technical drawings
  • Support process improvements, optimisation, and equipment upgrades
  • Assist with new equipment integration, commissioning, and validation
  • Work closely with operations, engineering, and technical teams
  • Remain hands-on, supporting breakdowns where required

Requirements:

  • Experience in a manufacturing or process-driven environment
  • Strong understanding of PLCs and control systems (Siemens / TIA Portal ideal)
  • Exposure to process systems and the ability to interpret P&IDs
  • Electro-mechanical capability with a hands-on approach
  • Experience supporting or improving automated equipment
  • Comfortable working across controls, mechanical, and process aspects
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to identify and implement improvements

Why? A hands-on role with a strong controls and process focus. Involvement in process development, not just maintenance. Opportunity to take ownership of equipment and improvements. Specialist manufacturing environment within medical and optical materials.
