About the Role
As an R&D Technician, you’ll play a key role in assembling, testing, and maintaining experimental systems that support ground-breaking research and product development. You’ll be part of a collaborative and highly skilled team driving innovation in a fast-paced start-up environment. Your attention to detail, safety awareness, and hands-on problem-solving skills will be critical to success in this role.
What You’ll Be Doing
- System Setup & Maintenance: Assemble and maintain mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems for prototypes and research.
- Experimentation & Data Handling: Support experiments, ensuring accurate data recording and analysis.
- Lab Operations: Maintain tools, equipment, and consumables, and uphold safety standards in a well-organised lab environment.
- Testing & QA: Develop and carry out testing procedures to ensure the reliability and quality of emerging technologies.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with engineers to improve system performance and support project goals.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: 5+ years in a technical or engineering support role within an R&D or industrial setting.
- Qualifications: NVQ Level 4 Diploma or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Strong hands-on skills in electrical/mechanical systems, troubleshooting, lab management, and safe handling of experimental setups.
- Mindset: Proactive, adaptable, and keen to learn and take on new challenges.
- Bonus Skills: Experience in HVAC, hydraulics, or industrial control systems is a plus.
