We’re recruiting for a growing biotechnology organisation seeking a Scientist – Genotyping & Molecular Biology to join their onsite laboratory team in Essex. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone with a strong foundation in molecular biology who enjoys problem-solving, assay development, and supporting customers with technical troubleshooting. Previous troubleshooting experience would be beneficial, although training can be provided. Experience with KASP or PACE technologies would also be advantageous.
This varied position combines laboratory science, technical support, quality control, and R&D activities. The successful candidate will contribute to PCR-based genotyping projects while supporting customers and internal product development initiatives. The role would suit someone with previous R&D or troubleshooting laboratory experience who is looking to grow within a collaborative and scientifically driven environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical support to customers via phone and email
- Troubleshoot customer assays and experimental workflows
- Design, optimise, and validate PCR-based genotyping assays
- Carry out DNA extraction, quantification, and quality assessment
- Support internal R&D and new product development projects
- Perform QC testing on reagents, PCR master mixes, and instrumentation
- Assist with reagent manufacture and batch testing activities
You will ideally be proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across a range of laboratory activities. Strong communication skills and a practical, problem-solving mindset are important for success in this role.
Essential Requirements- Degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Plant Science, or a related discipline
- Hands-on molecular biology laboratory experience
