A precision engineering manufacturer is looking to appoint a Technical Estimator to support a growing order book and increasing demand from high-specification engineering sectors. The business specialises in the manufacture of complex machined components and assemblies, working with customers who require high precision and consistent quality. This role will sit at the centre of the commercial and engineering teams, translating technical drawings into accurate quotations and supporting projects from enquiry through to order.
Experience estimating machined components, precision parts or subcontract manufacturing work would be highly beneficial.
Technical Estimator Responsibilities:- Produce accurate quotations from engineering drawings and CAD data.
- Analyse manufacturing requirements including materials, machining operations and lead times.
- Work closely with production teams to ensure realistic and competitive estimates.
- Liaise with customers regarding technical queries during the quoting process.
- Support project handovers to manufacturing once orders are secured.
- Maintain accurate documentation and quoting records.
- Identify opportunities to improve estimating processes and cost efficiency.
- Background in precision engineering or mechanical manufacturing.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience estimating or costing machined components or assemblies.
- Strong understanding of machining processes and materials.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and general IT systems.
Desirable:
- Experience working in a subcontract machining or precision engineering environment.
- Engineering apprenticeship or technical qualification.
