H-Power is a UK-based, AIM-listed clean energy company developing zero-emissions hydrogen power systems. Using ammonia to produce low-carbon hydrogen at the point of need, and fuel cells to convert it into reliable, off-grid power, H-Power offers a scalable, practical alternative to fossil fuels, serving construction, infrastructure, transport and power generation sectors. Behind the technology is a team driven by a shared purpose: to accelerate the shift away from fossil fuels.

As a Deployment Technician, you will join H-Power on a 6-month fixed-term contract, supporting a growing programme of customer deployments across the UK and internationally. This is a hands-on, customer-facing field service role responsible for installing, commissioning, operating and supporting H-Power's hydrogen fuel cell systems during an exciting period of commercial growth.

Working closely with the existing Deployment Team, you will support live customer projects, upcoming product launches and field operations. When not on customer sites, you will be based at H-Power's Surrey facility preparing systems for deployment, supporting testing and commissioning activities, maintaining equipment and contributing to the successful delivery of customer projects.

This role would suit an experienced Field Service, Commissioning or Installation Engineer looking to work on innovative clean energy technology within a fast-paced engineering environment.

Field Service Technician Responsibilities:

  • Install, commission, operate and remove hydrogen fuel cell systems at customer sites across the UK and internationally.

  • Coordinate the loading, transportation and positioning of deployment equipment in accordance with site and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare hydrogen fuel cell systems and associated equipment for field deployment.
  • Complete deployment documentation including installation records, checklists, RAMS and service reports.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to investigate and resolve technical issues identified in the field.
  • Carry out customer site surveys to assess future deployment opportunities.
  • Support customer training and maintain a professional, customer-focused approach at all times.
  • Monitor deployed systems, collect operational data and contribute to continuous product improvement.
  • Ensure all deployment activities comply with company procedures, health & safety standards and relevant site regulations.

Field Service Technician Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a Field Service, Deployment, Commissioning or Installation Engineering role.
  • Hands-on engineering background with an electrical bias preferred.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with customers and engineering teams.
  • Safety-focused with a professional approach to working on customer sites.
  • Self-motivated team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS), inverters, hydrogen fuel cells or compressed gases would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of DSEAR, CDM or hydrogen safety regulations would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK and internationally.

Additional information: 6-month fixed-term contract. Site-based in Dunsfold, Surrey when not travelling. Regular UK travel with opportunities to support international deployments. 37.5-hour working week (08:00–16:00). Weekend overtime paid at 1.5x, with weekday overtime taken as TOIL.
