CMM Programmer Location: Abingdon, Oxford – On-site Salary: Competitive Contract: Permanent Hours: Monday–Friday The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced CMM Programmer to join a growing advanced manufacturing business developing high-performance metal components using cutting-edge manufacturing technologies. Based on-site in Abingdon, you will play a key role in ensuring the dimensional accuracy and quality of complex engineered components. You'll be responsible for developing and running CMM programmes, improving inspection processes and supporting projects throughout the product development and manufacturing lifecycle. Working closely with Metrology, Engineering and Operations, this position offers the opportunity to influence measurement methods and drive continuous improvement within a highly technical, fast-moving environment. Key Responsibilities Develop, programme and operate CMM equipment, primarily using Hexagon / PC-DMIS and Renishaw Agility / MODUS. Develop and improve CMM inspection methods to increase accuracy, repeatability and efficiency. Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and GD&T requirements to establish appropriate measurement strategies. Review drawings for measurability and potential inaccuracies, providing technical feedback to engineering teams. Support project teams with dimensional inspection throughout product development and manufacture. Maintain accurate inspection records and ensure appropriate measurement traceability. Support the calibration and control of inspection equipment and tooling. Use additional metrology equipment where required, with training provided where necessary. Share technical knowledge and good practice across the wider Metrology team. About You To be successful, you will ideally have: Proven experience programming CMMs using PC-DMIS and/or MODUS, ideally with Hexagon or Renishaw equipment. Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T. Experience within a high-accuracy engineering, manufacturing or inspection environment. A strong understanding of engineering and dimensional measurement principles. Excellent attention to detail and an appreciation of robust, efficient metrology processes. The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams. A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to develop new technical skills. Desirable Experience Additional experience in any of the following would be advantageous: Designing and manufacturing measurement jigs and fixtures using software such as Fusion or Rhino. Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) or Gauge R&R. Coding, automation or data analysis. Broader metrology and dimensional inspection technologies. What's on Offer?
