A pioneering clean energy technology company is developing next-generation hydrogen power systems to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels. As Technical Applications Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the deployment of innovative hydrogen technologies across the UK and Europe. Acting as the technical interface between customers, engineering and project delivery teams, you will help customers integrate complex energy systems into their operations, developing practical technical solutions from initial engagement through to implementation. This is a highly visible, customer-facing role suited to someone with a strong technical background in hydrogen, fuel cells, electrolysers, industrial gases or related energy technologies, who enjoys solving engineering challenges and working directly with customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary technical contact throughout the customer engagement process.
- Work closely with customers to understand operational challenges and identify suitable technical solutions.
- Develop system configurations and technical solutions to meet customer requirements.
- Support site integration activities and advise customers on the implementation of complex energy systems.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to define system architecture, scope of supply and technical solutions.
- Lead customer meetings, technical workshops, site visits and product demonstrations.
- Develop technical proposals, application studies and supporting documentation.
- Provide technical support during bid, tender and due diligence activities.
- Support project handover into engineering, manufacturing and deployment teams.
- Represent the business at industry conferences, exhibitions and customer events.
Requirements
- Experience in Applications Engineering, Technical Sales, Systems Engineering or Technical Solutions roles.
- Knowledge of hydrogen, fuel cells, electrolysers, industrial gases, process engineering or related energy technologies.
- Experience supporting the integration, deployment or application of complex engineered products or systems.
- Ability to develop technical solutions, system configurations, application studies or FEED-stage engineering work.
- Experience working directly with customers to solve technical challenges and support system implementation.
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Understanding of thermodynamics, process systems, gas handling or industrial energy systems.
- Experience working with EPC contractors, engineering consultancies, OEMs or industrial technology businesses.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders across engineering, commercial and project delivery teams.
- Willingness to travel regularly throughout the UK and Europe.
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of hydrogen production, ammonia, fuel cells, electrolysers or industrial decarbonisation technologies.
- Experience in industrial energy systems, power generation or process plant environments.
- Experience supporting site integration, commissioning or deployment of engineered systems.
- Familiarity with industrial codes, standards and safety requirements.
- Understanding of sectors including construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, ports, utilities or power generation.
