A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineer or Engineering Team Leader looking to take the next step in their career. This newly created role bridges the gap between the technical engineering team and senior service management, offering the chance to lead from the front, influence process improvements and play a key role in operational delivery across a growing business.
This position has been introduced due to expansion and increased demand and is well-suited to someone with a solid technical background in fire and/or security systems who is ready to take on more responsibility. You’ll be supporting a team of engineers in the field, acting as a first point of contact for technical and operational issues, while also assisting with audit compliance checks, training needs and performance monitoring. You won’t be tied to a desk – this is a hands‑on, varied role offering a blend of field‑based oversight, engineer support and collaboration with senior management.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the first line of support for engineers across the business, resolving technical or operational issues.
- Work closely with the Service Manager to implement improvements to service delivery.
- Carry out routine field audits, equipment checks (PAT calibration ladders) and plant register reviews.
- Identify and escalate any training or development needs within the engineering team.
- Monitor engineering utilisation and contribute ideas to increase performance and efficiency.
- Support with scheduling and coordination, ensuring the right resource is in the right place at the right time.
- Help promote a high‑performance culture focused on safety, service quality and customer satisfaction.
- Develop familiarity with key business standards, including ISO 9001, 14001, 27001 and 45001.
- Contribute to a resilient engineering function by promoting best practice team support and continuous improvement.
- Strong technical background in Fire and/or Security Systems.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a service or maintenance engineering role.
- Some prior experience in a lead or mentoring role is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Confidence to constructively challenge performance issues and coach others.
- IT literate and comfortable with Microsoft Office and digital reporting tools.
- Full UK driving licence is essential.
- Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum (depending on experience)
