Cranleigh STEM is working with a leading energy company looking to strengthen its engineering team. We’re looking for an experienced C&I Engineer to join them on a permanent basis. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing process control and safety systems for safe operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify plant improvement areas and develop project scopes.
  • Design and implement process control and safety systems.
  • Manage small-scale C&I projects.
  • Lead site functional safety efforts.
  • Ensure SIS documentation compliance and perform SIL verification.
  • Specify, test, and commission SIS and control system upgrades.
  • Ensure hazardous area instrumentation meets regulations.
  • Provide technical support for fault diagnosis and remedial actions.
  • Support site-wide process control and safety system maintenance.
  • Supervise C&I Technicians and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Update Safety Management System as needed.

Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively at senior management level and with external stakeholders.
  • Minimum 2 years’ design experience in instrumentation & control.
  • Knowledge of hazardous area equipment design (CompEx 12A & 12B preferred).
  • Experience with functional safety, SIL verification, and relevant certifications (TUV preferred).
  • Involvement in engineering life cycle phases, including design, installation, and commissioning.
  • Understanding of control systems programming and industry standards.
  • Experience with risk management (HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, RAMS) and contractor supervision.
  • Procurement skills, including equipment specification and supplier coordination.
  • Field troubleshooting and leadership experience in engineering teams.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise effectively.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable, diligent, and able to work under pressure.
  • Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in engineering software (PLC, AutoCAD) and MS Office.
