Cranleigh STEM is working with an established, family run environmental waste management business, we are recruiting for an Environmental Compliance Coordinator to join their team in South Oxfordshire.
Salary: Competitive
Location: South Oxfordshire
Work Arrangement: Some flexibility, with occasional home working possible.
Transport: Pool vehicles provided for site visits.
Progression: Open to experienced candidates and strong graduates with relevant experience.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with Environmental Permits, trade effluent discharge consents, surface water discharge consents, abstraction licences, and other regulatory requirements.
- Lead and manage permit applications and variations (internally or via consultants).
- Support site managers in ensuring compliance with environmental permits, investigating and documenting any deviations.
- Review and standardise environmental management systems across sites.
- Assist operational teams during Environment Agency (EA) visits, inspections, and audits.
- Review Environment Agency Compliance Assessment Report (CAR) forms and raise necessary actions.
- Compile, check, and submit quarterly waste returns to the EA.
- Liaise with project teams to ensure Environmental Permit applications or variations align with site developments.
- Analyse and interpret environmental monitoring data to identify trends and non-compliances.
- Submit Schedule 6 reports to the EA following breaches of environmental limits.
- Ensure the timely completion and submission of reports such as Pollution Inventory Returns, Annual Environmental Reports, Hydrogeological Risk Assessments (HRA), and Landfill Gas Risk Assessments (LFGRAs).
- Support compliance with Animal By-Products Regulations for storage and transportation.
- Experience in applying for and varying Environmental Permits (ideally waste permits), water abstraction licences, surface water and trade effluent discharge consents.
- Background in the waste industry, environmental consultancy, or a regulatory role (e.g., EA Waste Officer or EA National Permitting Centre (NPS) Officer).
- Also considered: Graduates with 1+ year in an environmental role; Graduates with an industrial placement year in environmental compliance or permitting.
