A pioneering clean energy technology company is developing next-generation hydrogen power systems to support the transition away from fossil fuels. As Commercial Engineering Manager, you will sit at the intersection of engineering, customer engagement and commercial strategy, helping bring innovative hydrogen technologies to market across the UK and Europe. Working closely with customers, engineering and commercial teams, you will develop technical solutions, build compelling proposals and support projects from initial engagement through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary technical-commercial contact throughout the sales process.
  • Engage with customers to understand operational challenges and identify suitable technical solutions.
  • Translate customer requirements into technically robust and commercially viable proposals.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to define system configurations, scope of supply and technical solutions.
  • Support customer meetings, technical workshops, site visits and product demonstrations.
  • Develop technical and commercial proposals, tender submissions and supporting documentation.
  • Manage technical queries throughout bid and due diligence processes.
  • Build compelling business cases focused on decarbonisation, energy efficiency and total cost of ownership.
  • Support contract negotiations alongside commercial and legal teams.
  • Represent the business at industry conferences, exhibitions and customer events.
  • Facilitate project handover from commercial stages into engineering and delivery teams.

Requirements:

  • Technical Sales, Commercial Engineering, Applications Engineering, Proposal Management or Business Development roles.
  • Supporting the sale or deployment of complex industrial, process plant, energy or infrastructure projects.
  • Developing technical proposals, tenders, FEED studies or bid submissions.
  • Working directly with customers to develop technical solutions and business cases.
  • Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical disciplines.
  • Process systems, thermodynamics, industrial gases, hydrogen technologies or similar engineering environments.
  • Building business cases and communicating technical concepts to both technical and commercial audiences.
  • Working with EPC contractors, engineering consultancies, OEMs or industrial technology businesses.
  • Managing multiple stakeholders across engineering, commercial and project delivery functions.
  • Travelling regularly throughout the UK and Europe.

Desirable Experience:

  • Hydrogen, ammonia, fuel cells, industrial gases or power generation technologies.
  • Industrial decarbonisation, energy transition or net-zero focused projects.
  • Experience working with EPC contractors, engineering consultancies or process engineering organisations.
  • Familiarity with industrial codes, standards and safety requirements.
  • Experience developing commercial business cases including payback analysis, NPV and ROI assessments.
  • Understanding of industrial sectors such as infrastructure, water, ports, manufacturing, construction or power generation.
