This is a role for someone who enjoys making playtimes happy, safe and inclusive for children aged 3–13 and who wants regular, practical contact with pupils across the Prep School. You will join the duty team at Cranleigh Prep School to supervise morning and lunchtime breaks, encourage positive play, support friendships and help pupils return to lessons calm and ready to learn.

This is a part time role with the following hours:

10:10am to 1.30am Monday, Thursday and Friday during term time.

What you'll be doing

• Supervising pupils during morning and lunchtime breaks across the Prep School (ages 3–13).
• Encouraging play, supporting social interactions and helping children form and sustain friendships.
• Promoting positive behaviour and supporting pupil wellbeing during break periods.
• Working alongside teachers and support staff to maintain a safe, orderly and pleasant outdoor and indoor break environment.
• Helping to keep the school site tidy and respectful of the school’s environment and resources.
• Reporting any safeguarding concerns, accidents or behavioural incidents to a member of staff promptly and following school procedures.

What we're looking for

Essential

• A warm, approachable and reliable presence around the School who enjoys working with children.
• Good communication skills with children and adults and the ability to encourage inclusive play.
• Willingness to follow school routines, behaviour expectations and safeguarding procedures.

Desirable

• Previous experience working with children in a school, nursery or similar setting (not essential).

About the team You will be part of the Prep School duty team, working closely with teaching and support staff across the site. The role involves regular contact with children from Nursery through Year 8 and requires good situational awareness, a calm manner and the ability to build positive relationships quickly.
