The Role
As a Teacher of Art, you will deliver high-quality lessons across Years 9 to 13, specialising in Painting and Photography within a Fine Art tradition. You will join a dedicated team of five (including a technician) in a well-resourced department where every teacher enjoys their own dedicated studio space. Our department is a "beacon of excellence," characterised by outstanding GCSE and A-Level results and a culture of continuous professional development. We pride ourselves on balancing traditional skills—such as our weekly Sixth Form life drawing classes—with contemporary experimentation and digital innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspiring Teaching: Deliver ambitious lessons to GCSE (Edexcel) and A-Level (WJEC/Eduqas) students.
- Curriculum Innovation: Assist in developing a modern curriculum that integrates digital photography, darkroom facilities, and traditional fine art.
- Student Mentorship: Guide students through portfolio preparation for higher education and encourage participation in exhibitions and competitions.
- Departmental Collaboration: Contribute to the sharing of resources and attend weekly meetings to discuss student progress and best practices.
- Boarding School Life: Take a full and active part in the pastoral and co-curricular life of our busy, friendly boarding community.
About You
- A strong honours graduate in Art or a related discipline.
- Specialist interest/experience in Painting and Photography (experience with darkroom facilities is a plus).
