We are seeking a dynamic Health & Safety Training Lead and Sports Centre Duty Manager to play a pivotal role in the safety and operational success of our vibrant school community and commercial sports facilities. This unique role combines high-level first aid training delivery, emergency response, and hands-on facility management. Whether you are leading a "First Aid at Work" course or ensuring our rugby fixtures have elite pitch-side support, your work will directly impact the well-being of our students, staff, and the wider community.

The Role at a Glance

As a key member of the operations team, you will bridge the gap between technical safety training and active sports management. You will be the "go-to" expert for first aid compliance while ensuring our Sports Centre remains a premier destination for both school and commercial users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Trainer & First Aid Provision
    • Deliver Excellence: Lead and deliver First Aid at Work, Manual Handling, and Rugby-specific first aid training across the site.
    • Compliance & Equipment: Manage all first aid kits, resources, and defibrillators, ensuring the school remains fully compliant and stocked.
    • Coordination: Ensure a robust schedule of training courses is maintained throughout the academic year for internal staff and external commercial clients.
  • Emergency Response & Pitch-side Support
    • First Responder: Act as a primary first aider on-site and potentially within the local community.
    • Elite Sport Support: Provide pitch-side paramedic/first aid services during rugby fixtures, collaborating closely with the Medical Centre and pitch-side doctors.
  • Sports Centre Operations (Duty Management)
    • Facility Oversight: Manage the opening/closing of facilities (including the pool) and ensure high standards of cleanliness and equipment setup.
    • Fitness Leadership: Instruct gym users on safe techniques and lead weekly fitness classes.
    • Commercial Growth: Support the Sports Centre Administrator by managing bookings, responding to enquiries, and producing promotional newsletters to drive commercial activity.
  • Health & Safety Compliance
    • Conduct and review risk assessments and emergency action plans.
    • Ensure all activities align with current legislation and school policies.

What We Are Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in delivering First Aid and/or Health & Safety training.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage administrative tasks and booking systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a "customer-first" mindset.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to set up/dismantle heavy sports apparatus.

Desirable (But Not Essential):

  • NPLQ (National Pool Lifeguard Qualification) or Pool Plant Operator certificate.
  • Experience in Aquatics or delivering swimming lessons.
