Job Description

Senior Paraplanner – Chartered-Level Opportunity in a Holistic, Boutique Firm

Location: Outskirts of Reading, close to Earley (2 days from home after probation)

Salary: £50,000 – £65,000 (depending on experience)

Benefits: 6% pension, private medical insurance, life cover (DIS), 25 days holiday, discretionary bonuses

We’re working on behalf of a boutique, independent financial planning firm that delivers truly holistic, client-led advice. Known for the depth of its planning and the strength of its client relationships, this business is now looking for a Chartered (or senior-level) Paraplanner to join their highly collaborative and well-structured team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a senior paraplanning role with real influence, a high level of technical responsibility, and the chance to progress into anadvisory role in the future if desired.

About the Firm

This whole-of-market financial planning business is built on genuine client care, technical excellence, and long-term thinking. Every client journey is bespoke — with cashflow modelling, tax planning, investment strategy, and legacy planning all forming part of a joined-up service.

You’ll be joining a business with outstanding internal processes, a strong culture of development, and a genuine commitment to employee wellbeing. We’ve previously placed individuals here who continue to thrive — testament to the firm’s supportive, values-driven approach.

About the Role

You’ll join the team as Senior Paraplanner, becoming the technical lead within a supportive paraplanning function. Working alongside three experienced paraplanners and supporting four highly established advisers, you’ll take on a wide range of technical planning work — while also having the space to mentor, collaborate and contribute to continual process improvement.

This role is suited to someone who loves holistic planning, thrives on technical complexity, and wants to be at the heart of meaningful, client-focused financial advice.

And importantly, for those with aspirations to move into an adviser role, the business can support that transition. When the time is right, there is a pathway to build your own client relationships and step fully into a planning role — with the mentorship and structure to make that a success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on complex technical cases, across retirement, tax, estate, and investment planning
  • Collaborate closely with advisers to develop and implement financial strategies
  • Prepare high-quality, tailored suitability reports and cashflow models
  • Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing and support the development of junior paraplanners
  • Maintain the highest standards of technical accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Participate in strategic discussions and offer input on client journey improvements

What We’re Looking For

  • Chartered or near-Chartered, or with significant experience in a senior paraplanning role
  • Deep understanding of financial planning ideally within an IFA environment
  • Strong written, numerical, and analytical skills — with attention to detail second to none
  • Comfortable leading complex cases and collaborating closely with experienced advisers
  • A passion for planning, problem-solving, and delivering genuine value to clients

Why This Firm?

  • Independent, boutique feel with an engaged and loyal client base
  • Structured team environment with excellent admin and paraplanner support
  • Variety of work and deep collaboration with advisers
  • Culture of trust, development, and long-term thinking
  • Pathway to become an adviser in the future, with mentorship and structure
  • Generous benefits: 6% pension, private medical, DIS, 25 days holiday, discretionary bonuses
