We are seeking an experienced and driven GP Practice Manager / Business Manager to oversee the strategic and operational management of our busy GP surgery. This pivotal role combines leadership, financial acumen, and business planning to ensure the effective delivery of high-quality patient care and the smooth running of all practice operations. The successful candidate will work closely with the Partners and clinical team to drive performance, maintain compliance, and lead on all aspects of business management and service improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across all areas of the practice working with team leaders and the deputy practice manager.
- Manage the day-to-day running of the practice, ensuring efficient workflows and outstanding patient service.
- Lead on financial management, including budgeting, refined forecasting, financial analysis, and oversight of year-end accounts in collaboration with accountants and partners.
- Drive business development initiatives to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of the practice.
- Oversee HR and workforce management, including recruitment, appraisals, training, and staff wellbeing.
- Take ownership of complaints management, ensuring timely resolution, root cause analysis, and learning outcomes are shared with the team.
- Ensure compliance with NHS, CQC, and employment legislation requirements, maintaining high standards of governance.
- Support the Partners with business planning, contract management, and reporting to the ICB and NHS England.
- Build positive relationships with patients, staff, and external stakeholders to promote an excellent reputation within the community.
- Play an active part within the Primary care Network attending regular meetings.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a senior management or business management role.
- Strong financial management skills, including forecasting, budgeting, and end-of-year account oversight.
- Excellent complaint handling and conflict resolution abilities.
- A solid understanding of NHS systems, primary care contracts, and CQC compliance will be required as part of initial development within the role.
- Demonstrable experience in HR, staff development, and performance management.
- Highly organised, analytical, and proactive, with strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to balance strategic planning with operational delivery in a fast-paced environment.
