Crane Worldwide Logistics is a leader in supply chain solutions with over 130 locations across 30 countries providing individual services that address our client's logistics challenges. The Business Analyst serves as an agile project manager and business analyst who owns the end-to-end delivery of client EDI and API integration projects. This role combines project orchestration, stakeholder management, and technical analysis to drive integration implementations from discovery through go-live. The successful candidate will effectively coordinate cross-functional teams including clients, developers, operations staff, and internal stakeholders while maintaining project momentum and proactively managing risks. This position requires both strong project management capabilities and technical proficiency in EDI standards to perform gap analysis and create data mappings that guide development work.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Project Management & Orchestration
- Project Ownership: Take ownership of integration projects from initial planning through go-live, validating and refining project plans while driving execution across all phases.
- Story Management: Create and maintain detailed Jira stories for development team, ensuring work is clearly defined and stays ahead of team velocity to prevent delays.
- Team Coordination: Orchestrate activities across developers, operations teams, and client resources throughout the project lifecycle (discovery, development, testing, deployment).
- Agile Participation: Participate in daily standups with broader BA and developer teams, providing project updates and coordinating dependencies.
- Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Status Reporting: Provide weekly project status updates to internal stakeholders (sales, account management) and clients, ensuring transparency and preventing communication gaps.
- Client Engagement: Ensure client responsiveness during discovery and testing phases, escalating unresponsiveness or delays to appropriate stakeholders and management.
- Scope Management: Identify and address scope misalignments early, working with clients to clarify requirements and involving sales and management when needed.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify project risks, communicate concerns to stakeholders, and escalate issues to management with recommended solutions.
- Technical Analysis & Requirements
- Gap Analysis: Perform detailed technical gap analysis of client requirements against system capabilities, identifying integration scope and complexity.
- Data Mapping: Create field-by-field paper mappings for EDI transactions, XML, JSON, and text file formats that developers will use for implementation.
- Requirements Documentation: Work with Client Solutions Managers to gather and document detailed integration requirements during discovery phase.
- Developer Collaboration: Partner with development team throughout build phase to answer questions and clarify mapping specifications.
- EDI Expertise: Leverage knowledge of EDI standards (ANSI X12, EDIFACT) and integration formats to design effective solutions.
- Quality Assurance & Testing
- Operations Alignment: Secure operational team buy-in and support for User Acceptance Testing (UAT) phase.
- Testing Coordination: Coordinate UAT activities with clients and operations teams, ensuring proper test coverage before production deployment.
- Quality Validation: Perform quality assurance testing on integration builds before production release.
- Process Management
- Meeting Facilitation: Develop and lead internal and external meeting agendas, applying project standards consistently.
- Documentation: Prepare reports, flow diagrams, and project documentation to support implementation and knowledge transfer.
- Continuous Improvement: Review project outcomes and identify opportunities for process optimization.

- EDI Knowledge: Extensive understanding of EDI standards (ANSI X12, EDIFACT) and working knowledge of XML, JSON data formats.
- Data Mapping: Ability to translate business and technical requirements into detailed field-by-field data mappings.
- Project Management: Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and maintain team velocity.
- Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to manage expectations, communicate proactively, and navigate competing priorities across multiple stakeholder groups.
- Logistics industry knowledge (freight forwarding, warehousing, customs brokerage).
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with ability to identify issues early and develop solutions independently.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Agile Execution: Ability to work within agile frameworks, create actionable stories, and drive work to completion against target dates.
- Team Collaboration: Works effectively with cross-functional teams while taking ownership of project outcomes.
- Judgment & Escalation: Demonstrates sound judgment in knowing when to resolve issues independently vs. when to escalate to management.
Preferred Skills
- Integration experience in retail, government, high tech, or energy verticals.
- SQL or other programming language experience.
- Experience with integration platforms (Boomi, Sterling Integrator, Informatica).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Supply Chain, or related analytical field preferred, OR 5+ years logistics industry experience.
- Experience Requirements: Minimum 5 years of Business Analysis experience. Demonstrated experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders. Experience coordinating development teams and driving technical implementations. Proven track record of delivering integration projects on time.
- Preferred Experience: Logistics operations experience (freight forwarding, warehousing, customs brokerage). Experience managing client expectations in consulting or implementation environments.
CERTIFICATION & LICENSES
- Professional certification in Project Management (PMP, CSM) or Business Analysis (CBAP) preferred but not required.
