We are seeking a Design Engineer - Projects, who will be responsible for the design, development and project delivery of valves and associated equipment for Building Services HVAC applications. You will work within a small team of engineers and collaborate closely with other business functions to deliver New Product Development (NPD), Resourcing and Value Engineering (VE) projects that support growth for the business.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Report to a Senior Engineer and contribute to a small, dynamic team delivering NPD, Resourcing and VE projects to agreed timelines, focused on core valve ranges (e.g. ball, butterfly, check, strainer and safety valves) and associated systems for HVAC applications.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously, supporting cross functional team members to achieve targets.
  • Plan, schedule and manage all technical tasks on assigned projects, following the NPD process.
  • Hands-on involvement in test program planning and execution with Test Technicians, including prototype evaluation and performance validation.
  • Ensure continuing compliance of the defined product ranges through maintenance and delivery of external product approvals and applications (e.g. Pressure Equipment Directive and WRAS).
  • Identify and deliver opportunities for Productivity / Value Engineering within existing defined product range.
  • Act as a technical point of contact for site issues and provide high-level support to customers and the Sales team.
  • Apply production engineering knowledge for components such as castings, machined parts, and plastic moldings.
  • Participate in DFM, DFMEA and PFMEA reviews, and other associated tools included within IATF 16949, to ensure robust design processes.
  • Establish customer requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

Qualifications/Experience/Training:

  • BEng, HND or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related discipline).
  • Proven track record in project delivery, working within cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and budget.
  • Experienced in supporting and liaising with external suppliers, manufacturing sites and approval bodies.
  • Experience of Identifying, implementing, and complying with applicable safety, environmental and quality standards, company procedures and policies and other relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Sound knowledge of common manufacturing processes including casting, machining, forging and plastic injection moulding.
  • Experience with identifying and delivering continuous improvement opportunities within a business environment.
  • Competent in MS Office tools.
