PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Electrical Maintenance (60%)
- Have a working knowledge and understanding of all electrical and electronic equipment on site including any future equipment when required.
- Perform troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on electrical systems including motors, controls, PLCâdriven equipment, HMI displays, CNC machinery, drives, sensors, instrumentation Robotics and integrated hydraulic/servo systems.
- Conduct preventive and predictive electrical maintenance, ensuring equipment reliability and compliance with safety standards.
- Installation and maintenance of all Site electrical equipment to comply with the requirements of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and the IEE Wiring Regulations 18th Edition.
- Assignment and completion of planned maintenance and routine testing work for safety devices.
- Diagnose electrical faults, perform rootâcause analysis, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and wiring drawings.
- Support installation, testing, and commissioning of new electrical equipment or upgrades.
- Carry out mechanical maintenance on equipment including pumps, gearboxes, bearings, valves, conveyors, pneumatic/hydraulic valves and mechanical assemblies.
- Perform routine lubrication, alignment, adjustment, and replacement of mechanical components.
- Assist with dismantling and rebuilding machinery for planned overhauls or improvement projects.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Support optimisation of mechanical performance through reliability improvements and continuous improvement activities.
- Be a part of ad hoc projects, including administrative procedures as may be required from time to time.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with the companyâs procedures and safe working practices.
- Respond to breakdowns quickly and safely to minimise downtime.
- Work cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and production teams to solve equipment issues.
- Support cross functional training in the maintenance department.
- Participate in risk assessments, safe systems of work, and permit-to-work processes.
- Contribute to stock management of critical spares and maintenance consumables.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen events, 5S, lean practices, reliability improvements, etc.).
- Ensure all maintenance tasks meet internal & statutory standards / requirements.
- Ensure contractor compliance with site H&S regulations.
- To ensure that all periodic inspections & testing, statutory or otherwise, are carried out and documented.
- Provide advice and electrical expertise to support business decisions.
- Complete accident investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Assist in the development and implementation of a Total Productive Maintenance system.
- Keeping records and maintaining safely any logbooks and data relating to plant and equipment.
- To carry out minor site repairs to buildings and infrastructure.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
- NVQ Level 3 / ONC / HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline.
- Certificates in BS 7671 18th edition wirings regs, C&G 2391 inspection & testing.
- Strong competency in electrical fault finding, testing, and maintenance of industrial equipment.
- Working knowledge of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, and general mechanical practices.
- Experience with PLC-controlled machinery (diagnostics preferred).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced plant environment.
- Strong safety mindset and knowledge of electrical and mechanical safety standards.
- Time served Electrician with hands on ability supported by excellent mechanical skills.
- Working knowledge of Total Preventive Maintenance.
