Job responsibilities
- Job Title: Salaried General Practitioner (GP)
- Responsible To: Practice Partners / Practice Manager
- Location: Crabbs Cross Medical Centre, Worcestershire
- Job Purpose: To provide high-quality, patient-centred primary medical care to the registered practice population, delivering safe, effective, and evidence-based services while working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Provide comprehensive medical services to patients presenting with undifferentiated and diagnosed conditions.
- Undertake same-day and routine consultations, both face-to-face and remotely.
- Assess, diagnose, treat, prescribe, and refer patients as appropriate.
- Conduct home visits when required.
- Manage acute and chronic medical conditions in line with national and local guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient records.
- Participate in safeguarding procedures for children and vulnerable adults.
- Promote health education and disease prevention.
Prescribing
- Prescribe medicines in accordance with GMC guidance, NICE guidelines, and local prescribing policies.
- Undertake regular medication reviews.
- Work collaboratively with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to optimise medicines management.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Process laboratory results, hospital correspondence, and clinical documents.
- Complete referrals, reports, insurance forms, and other medical documentation within agreed timescales.
- Participate in reviewing and updating clinical protocols where required.
Quality and Governance
- Contribute to Quality Improvement activities and clinical audits.
- Participate in significant event reviews and learning activities.
- Support the achievement of QOF and other contractual requirements.
- Maintain awareness of current clinical guidance and best practice.
Team Working
- Work collaboratively with practice nurses, pharmacists, healthcare assistants, physician associates, and administrative staff.
- Attend clinical meetings, practice meetings, and educational events.
- Contribute positively to the development of practice services.
Professional Development
- Maintain GMC registration and licence to practise.
- Participate in annual appraisal and revalidation requirements.
- Undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as required.
