CRA Consulting is delighted to be working in partnership with a Local authority based in Warrington, who are seeking an experienced Childcare Solicitor to join their legal team on a 12-month locum contract. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Childcare Lawyer looking for a long-term assignment within a supportive, progressive and friendly legal team.
The Role
Working within the Council's child safeguarding team, you will provide legal advice and support across a varied caseload of childcare matters. The role involves significant levels of advocacy in the Family Court, making strong advocacy experience essential. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing legal advice on child safeguarding and childcare matters
- Undertaking advocacy in the Family Court
- Advising councillors and officers where required
- Interpreting legislation and providing practical, common-sense legal advice
- Managing a varied caseload effectively
- Working closely with social workers, officers and other professionals
- Ensuring the Council's legal responsibilities are properly considered
- Supporting the wider legal team with high-quality legal advice
About You
To be considered for this opportunity, you will have:
- Previous experience as a Childcare Solicitor, ideally within a Local Authority
- Strong knowledge of child safeguarding and public law
- Significant Family Court advocacy experience - essential
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong team-working abilities
- The ability to interpret legislation and apply it in a practical manner
- A proactive, pragmatic and client-focused approach
