This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced claimant litigator to take ownership of a high-quality caseload of serious and complex injury claims, working with clients whose lives have been substantially affected by their injuries. The successful candidate will become part of an established team with an excellent reputation for delivering both strong legal results and a genuinely supportive service to clients. Alongside managing their own matters, there will be scope to contribute to the development of less experienced colleagues and play a wider role within the department.
The Role
You’ll handle a varied caseload of predominantly multi-track Road Traffic Accident claims, dealing with complex issues surrounding liability, causation and quantum. Most matters will fall within the £50,000-£150,000 bracket, although there will be opportunities to work on higher-value and catastrophic injury cases depending on experience. You’ll have significant autonomy over your files, from initial instruction through to settlement or trial, while working closely with a range of experts and professionals to ensure clients receive the appropriate legal, medical and rehabilitation support.
Your Responsibilities
- Taking responsibility for a caseload of complex claimant serious injury matters.
- Managing predominantly multi-track RTA claims from instruction through to conclusion.
- Assessing and developing case strategy in relation to liability, causation and quantum.
- Building trusted relationships with clients and providing clear, empathetic and practical advice.
- Conducting client meetings, including face-to-face appointments where appropriate.
- Identifying rehabilitation and care needs and securing appropriate support at an early stage.
- Obtaining interim payments where appropriate to assist clients during the progression of their claims.
- Instructing and managing a range of experts, including medical professionals, rehabilitation providers, care experts, case managers and forensic accountants.
- Working closely with counsel and other external specialists.
- Preparing and reviewing pleadings, witness statements, schedules of loss and settlement documentation.
- Valuing claims and negotiating settlements to achieve the best possible outcome.li>
- Preparing matters for hearings and trial where required.
- Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring files comply with regulatory and internal requirements.
- Supporting junior team members through mentoring, technical guidance and knowledge sharing.
- Contributing to the continued development of the department through professional networking and building relationships within the serious injury sector.
About You
We’re looking for an established claimant Personal Injury litigator with strong technical knowledge and experience dealing with serious injury matters. You’ll ideally have:
- Significant experience handling claimant serious injury claims.
- A strong background in multi-track RTA litigation.
- Excellent knowledge of Personal Injury law and the Civil Procedure Rules.
- A thorough understanding of liability, causation and quantum.
- Experience dealing with complex medical and expert evidence.
- Strong drafting, negotiation and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
- The ability to manage a demanding caseload independently.
- A high level of organisation and attention to detail.
- Experience supporting, supervising or mentoring junior colleagues.
- Confidence working collaboratively with clients, experts, counsel and other professionals.
- Good IT skills and experience using legal case management systems.
Applications are welcomed from qualified Solicitors, Chartered Legal Executives and experienced Serious Injury Fee Earners with the appropriate level of claimant litigation experience. Membership or involvement with organisations such as APIL, Headway or the Spinal Injuries Association would be beneficial but is not essential.
What's on Offer?
You’ll be joining a specialist team where you’ll have the opportunity to work on complex, high-value serious injury claims while developing your career within a respected claimant practice. The role offers:
- Competitive salary and benefits package.
- Hybrid and flexible working options.
- A varied and technically challenging serious injury caseload.
- Exposure to higher-value and catastrophic injury matters.
- A collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Opportunities to mentor and develop junior colleagues.
- Ongoing training and professional development.
- Clear opportunities for long-term career progression.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
This role offers the chance to move beyond straightforward Personal Injury work and take ownership of complex multi-track serious injury litigation, working closely with clients and a wide network of experts to achieve meaningful outcomes. For an experienced claimant litigator who enjoys the technical and client-facing aspects of serious injury work, this is an opportunity to join a growing specialist team where your experience can make a genuine difference to both clients and the wider department.
