CRA Consulting is working in partnership with a well-regarded Local Authority to recruit an experienced Childcare Solicitor to join its established Legal Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with substantial experience in public childcare law to join a supportive and collaborative team handling a varied and complex caseload.

The Role

  • You will manage your own caseload of public and private childcare matters, providing high-quality legal advice and representation to the Council.
  • The role offers exposure to complex and challenging work, including:
    • Care proceedings and public childcare matters
    • Advocacy in Family Proceedings Courts, Magistrates' Courts and County Courts
    • Advising Social Workers, Managers and Senior Stakeholders
    • Drafting legal documentation and court applications
    • Judicial Review matters where required
    • Instructing and working alongside Counsel
    • Supporting and mentoring junior legal colleagues

About You

  • Be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive
  • Have substantial experience in childcare law
  • Possess strong advocacy skills and court experience
  • Be confident managing a busy caseload independently
  • Have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Local Government experience is desirable but not essential
  • Membership of the Law Society Children's Panel would be advantageous.
