The Opportunity
CRA Consulting is proud to be working in partnership with a highly successful and growing organisation in Sheffield to recruit a Legal Services Director. This is a rare and high-impact leadership opportunity, offering the chance to shape and lead a fully operational litigation function within a regulated environment. You will sit as part of the senior leadership team, driving both strategic direction and operational performance across litigation services.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the litigation services function across the organisation
- Take ownership of end-to-end litigation processes from triage through to court proceedings
- Act as Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP), ensuring adherence to Solicitors Regulation Authority requirements
- Operate within the FCA SMCR regime, maintaining high regulatory and ethical standards
- Drive performance, efficiency, and client outcomes across a high-volume, KPI-driven environment
- Shape the future strategy of the litigation offering, keeping ahead of market trends and best practice
- Play a key role in leadership, culture, and continuous improvement across the wider business
What you’ll be doing
- Leading, mentoring and developing a team of litigation professionals and case handlers
- Managing complex litigation matters and acting as escalation point where required
- Driving service delivery to meet and exceed financial and operational targets
- Ensuring full compliance with SRA and FCA regulatory frameworks
- Owning litigation strategy, risk management, and process optimisation
- Working closely with senior stakeholders to align legal services with wider business objectives
- Leading on audits, regulatory reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Embedding a high-performance, client-focused culture across the team
What they’re looking for
- Qualified Solicitor (5+ PQE) with strong litigation background
- Proven experience leading litigation teams within a regulated environment
- Experience operating at senior or director level (or ready to step into such a role)
- Strong working knowledge of SRA compliance and FCA regulation
- Experience acting as COLP (or ready to step into the position)
- Commercially astute with the ability to balance strategy and operational delivery
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
- Ability to manage complex cases while driving wider team performance
