Role: Residential Conveyancing Manager
Location: Sheffield - Outskirts
Salary: £50,000 to £65,000
Contract: Permanent - Full-Time or Part-Time Considered
Working Pattern: Hybrid Working Available
Benefits: Free Parking | 25 Days' Holiday | Discretionary Bonus
The Opportunity
CRA Consulting is working with a well-established local law firm on the outskirts of Sheffield to recruit an experienced Residential Conveyancing Manager.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior conveyancer who enjoys remaining involved in their own casework while also supporting, supervising and developing a small team.
The firm offers a friendly and down-to-earth working environment, accessible offices with free parking and greater flexibility than many traditional conveyancing practices. Both hybrid and part-time working arrangements will be considered for the right candidate.
The position may suit an existing Conveyancing Manager or Team Leader, as well as an experienced Residential Conveyancer who is ready to take their first formal step into management.
The Role
You will manage a small team of approximately five conveyancing professionals while retaining responsibility for your own manageable caseload.
Your caseload is likely to include:
- Freehold and leasehold sales and purchases
- New-build transactions
- Remortgages
- Transfers of equity
- Buy-to-let transactions
- Help to Buy and shared ownership matters
- More complex residential property transactions
Alongside your own fee-earning work, you will provide day-to-day technical and operational support to the wider team.
Management Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supervising a team of approximately five
- Allocating new matters and monitoring team capacity
- Providing technical guidance on complex files
- Troubleshooting issues across other team members' caseloads
- Reviewing files and maintaining strong compliance standards
- Supporting colleagues with difficult clients, lenders and third parties
- Monitoring service levels, workloads and transaction progress
- Coaching and developing junior conveyancers and support staff
- Identifying improvements to processes and working practices
- Supporting the partners with recruitment and team development
- Ensuring clients receive a consistently high standard of service
This is a hands-on leadership role. The firm is looking for somebody who can create a supportive and accountable working environment while remaining approachable when colleagues require help.
The Candidate
Applications are welcomed from:
- Solicitors
- Licensed Conveyancers
- Chartered Legal Executives
- Experienced non-qualified Residential Conveyancers
You should be able to demonstrate:
- Strong residential conveyancing experience
- The ability to manage your own caseload independently
- Sound technical knowledge across freehold and leasehold transactions
- Previous supervisory, mentoring or team leadership experience
- The confidence to troubleshoot complex files
- Strong organisational and workload-management skills
- Excellent client-care and communication skills
- A practical and commercially aware approach
- The ability to support colleagues while maintaining appropriate standards
Previous formal management experience would be advantageous but is not essential where a candidate can demonstrate strong technical ability and experience mentoring or supervising others.
What's on Offer
The firm offers:
- Salary of £50,000 to £65,000, depending on experience
- Discretionary bonus scheme
- 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
- Free on-site parking
- Hybrid working
- Full-time or part-time hours
- Responsibility for a small and established team
- A manageable personal caseload
- Genuine influence over the way the department operates
- A supportive and friendly working environment
- Long-term career stability and progression
