About the Opportunity

CRA Consulting is delighted to be working in partnership with an award-winning, ambitious law firm to recruit an experienced Head of Corporate / Company Commercial to lead and develop its thriving Corporate department.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior Corporate Solicitor looking to take the next step into a strategic leadership position or for an existing Head of Department seeking a fresh challenge within a progressive and growing practice.

Reporting directly to the firm's Owner and Managing Director, you will become a key member of the senior leadership team, helping to shape the future direction of the business while leading a talented Corporate team and maintaining your own high-quality client portfolio.

The firm has an excellent reputation for delivering commercially focused legal advice and continues to invest heavily in its people, technology and long-term growth strategy.

The Role

As Head of Corporate, you will combine strategic leadership with hands-on fee earning, ensuring exceptional service delivery while driving departmental growth and profitability.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Leading, mentoring and developing a team of Corporate Solicitors and support staff
  • Managing a varied caseload of high-value corporate transactions
  • Advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, shareholder agreements, joint ventures, corporate restructures and commercial contracts
  • Acting as the lead advisor on complex corporate matters
  • Driving departmental performance through effective supervision, financial management and case oversight
  • Working closely with senior leadership to implement the firm's strategic growth plans
  • Supporting recruitment, retention and professional development across the team
  • Ensuring compliance with SRA regulations, risk management procedures and quality standards
  • Building and strengthening relationships with existing corporate clients
  • Leading business development initiatives, networking and identifying new opportunities for growth
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to maximise client service and new business conversion

About You

  • Applications are welcomed from Corporate Solicitors who can demonstrate:
  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales
  • A minimum of 8 years' PQE within Corporate / Company Commercial law
  • Strong experience advising on mergers & acquisitions, shareholder agreements, corporate governance, restructures and commercial contracts
  • Previous experience leading or supervising legal teams
  • Excellent commercial awareness and strategic thinking
  • A proven ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships
  • Strong business development and networking skills
  • Outstanding communication, leadership and organisational abilities
  • A genuine passion for developing people and driving departmental success
