As Head of Private Client, you will lead the delivery of all Private Client services, manage and mentor a growing team, and act as a key advisor for complex and highâvalue matters. You will be instrumental in driving departmental strategy, innovation, and business developmentâwhile ensuring exceptional service delivery at all times.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading a dedicated Private Client team, setting the tone for performance, collaboration, and service excellence
- Managing a varied and often complex caseload of Wills, Probate, Trusts, LPAs, Inheritance Tax planning and Court of Protection matters
- Acting as the senior technical lead and point of escalation for challenging or high-net-worth cases
- Shaping and delivering a departmental growth strategy aligned with the firm's broader objectives
- Building strong relationships with clients, referrers, and professional networks to grow revenue and visibility
- Overseeing compliance, quality assurance and case management system optimisation
- Monitoring departmental performance including fee income, budgets, aged debt and KPIs
- Playing an active role in recruitment, training and succession planning to build a sustainable, high-performing team
Are You the Leader We're Looking For?
We are looking for a confident, experienced and commercially minded private client professional with:
- 10+ years PQE in Private Client work (Solicitor status essential; STEP or SFE membership preferred)
- A track record of successfully managing or leading a Private Client team or practice
- Strong technical expertise across Wills, Trusts, Probate, IHT planning, LPAs and CoP
- Commercial awareness and experience in driving departmental growth and profitability
- A natural leadership styleâmotivating, mentoring and inspiring others
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to think strategically and implement systems that enhance service delivery
