Role: Employment Law Director
Salary: £80,000 to £150,000 plus Annual Bonus

CRA Consulting is working with a highly respected national law firm to recruit an experienced Employment Law Director for its established Sheffield office. This is a senior appointment within a modern, well-resourced national employment team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to manage high-quality work, develop important client relationships and play an influential role in the continued growth of the practice. The position may suit an established Legal Director, a Partner seeking a new platform or an ambitious Senior Associate looking to take the next significant step in their career.
The Role
As Employment Law Director, you will advise employers and senior executives on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters. Your work may include:
- Strategic employment advice to employers and HR teams
- Employment Tribunal claims from instruction through to conclusion
- Discrimination and whistleblowing matters
- Disciplinary, grievance and performance issues
- Settlement agreements and senior executive exits
- TUPE and business reorganisations
- Redundancy and restructuring programmes
- Employment policies, contracts and procedures
- Complex employee relations matters
- Employment support on corporate transactions
Alongside managing your own matters, you will help develop the department's client base, identify new opportunities and strengthen relationships with existing clients. You will also provide technical leadership, supervise and mentor colleagues and contribute to the strategic direction of the wider employment practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing complex contentious and non-contentious employment matters
- Providing clear, practical and commercially focused advice
- Acting as a trusted adviser to employers, executives and HR professionals
- Conducting and supervising Employment Tribunal proceedings
- Developing existing client relationships
- Generating new work through networking and business development
- Supporting cross-referral opportunities across the firm
- Supervising and developing other lawyers
- Contributing to departmental planning, performance and growth
- Building a visible profile in the Sheffield and wider regional market
About You
You will be a qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with substantial employment law experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of employment law
- Experience managing complex matters independently
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and client-care skills
- Commercial awareness and a pragmatic approach to advice
- A strong record of building trusted client relationships
- An interest in business development and practice growth
- The confidence to supervise and mentor colleagues
- The ability to work collaboratively within a national team
An established following or portable client base would be advantageous but is not essential. Candidates with strong professional relationships, introducer connections or a credible business development plan are also encouraged to apply.
