Role: Military Claims Fee Earner.
Location: Castleford, West Yorkshire
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000
Contract: Full time, permanent
CRA Consulting is exclusively representing a specialist claimant law firm that is expanding its dedicated Military Claims team and is now looking to appoint an experienced Fee Earner. This is an opportunity to join a highly regarded niche practice and build a career working on claims for serving members of the Armed Forces, veterans and their families. You'll have responsibility for your own caseload and will be supported by an experienced team with a strong reputation in this area. Military claims experience is welcomed, but it's not essential. If you have a background in claimant personal injury and are looking to develop your expertise in a more specialist area, the firm can provide the training and support needed to make the move.
The Role
You’ll handle a varied portfolio of military compensation and personal injury claims, taking matters through the relevant stages of the claims process and working towards successful outcomes for your clients. The caseload can include:
- Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL)
- Non-Freezing Cold Injury (NFCI)
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Asbestos-related disease
- Other military personal injury and occupational illness claims
As part of the role, you’ll be responsible for:
- Running your own pre-litigated and litigated caseload
- Assessing liability, causation and quantum
- Building appropriate case strategies and progressing claims
- Drafting correspondence, witness statements, schedules of loss and court documentation
- Reviewing medical records, service records and supporting expert evidence
- Working directly with clients, counsel, medical experts, the Ministry of Defence and other third parties
- Negotiating settlements and working towards positive resolutions
- Managing deadlines and ensuring files remain compliant with regulatory and internal requirements
- Providing clear, sensitive and professional client care throughout each claim
Who We're Looking For
We're interested in hearing from professionals who have experience managing their own claimant litigation caseload. Relevant backgrounds could include:
- Personal Injury Fee Earner
- Litigation Executive
- Litigation Paralegal
- Legal Executive / CILEx
- Claims Handler
- Personal Injury Solicitor, NQ+
- Civil Litigation Fee Earner
You’ll ideally have experience in claimant personal injury, industrial disease or civil litigation, together with the confidence to manage your own files and work with a good degree of autonomy. Strong communication, organisation and drafting skills are important, as is the ability to deal with clients who may be going through particularly difficult or sensitive circumstances. The successful candidate will also be someone who enjoys working as part of a team while being comfortable taking ownership of their own workload.
About the Firm
Our client is an established claimant practice with a specialist focus on representing Armed Forces personnel, veterans and their families. The team combines technical expertise with a genuinely supportive approach, providing an environment where people can develop their skills, take on responsibility and progress their careers. For the right person, this role offers the chance to develop a valuable specialism while working on cases that have a meaningful impact on the lives of clients.
Why This Role?
Military claims is a specialist area that offers plenty of scope for professional development and the opportunity to work on genuinely rewarding cases. Whether you're already established in military claims or you're an experienced claimant personal injury professional looking for a new direction, this position provides the chance to develop specialist knowledge within an established and growing team.
