Overview
CRA Consulting is delighted to be working in partnership with a well-regarded Local Authority in Greater Manchester to recruit an experienced Senior Childcare Locum Lawyer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and supportive legal team, where you will play a key role in delivering high-quality legal services across Children’s Services. The role offers a varied and meaningful caseload, with the opportunity to make a genuine impact within the local community.
Responsibilities
- Managing a complex caseload of public childcare matters
- Handling care proceedings, adoption, and safeguarding issues
- Providing clear and pragmatic legal advice to social workers and senior stakeholders
- Attending and advocating at hearings where required
- Supporting junior team members and contributing to team development
- Working collaboratively with internal departments to achieve positive outcomes
Qualifications
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with full practising rights
- Strong experience in public childcare law, ideally within a Local Authority setting
- Confident advocacy skills and experience handling your own hearings
- Ability to manage a busy caseload with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused approach
