CRA Consulting are currently recruiting for an experienced Advocate Lawyer to join the Legal Services team of a local authority in Barnsley on a permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified advocate with Higher Rights of Audience and strong experience in Childcare Law, either from a local authority or private practice background.
The successful candidate will handle a varied and complex caseload, representing the Council in the Family Court and High Court, while also supporting the wider childcare legal team.Key responsibilities:

  • Represent the Council in Family Court and High Court proceedings.
  • Manage a complex caseload of child protection and care matters.
  • Handle matters involving adoption, injury, fatalities and international elements.
  • Advise Social Services on relevant legislation and legal issues.
  • Prepare court documentation and provide legal advice on social care matters.
  • Support the training and development of colleagues within the childcare team.
  • Deputise for senior and principal lawyers where required.
  • Carry out legal research and assist with complex or specialist matters.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • Qualified Lawyer with Higher Rights of Audience.
  • Strong experience in Childcare Law.
  • Experience within a local authority or private practice.
  • Excellent advocacy and communication skills.
  • Experience handling complex care proceedings.
