CRA Consulting is working with a large public sector organisation in South Yorkshire to recruit an experienced Adult Social Care Lawyer for an initial 3-month locum assignment, starting January 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to step into a well-established legal team supporting frontline adult social care services, with a strong pipeline of work and a realistic caseload.
The Opportunity
You’ll provide legal advice and case support across a broad range of adult social care matters, working closely with social care professionals and internal stakeholders to ensure lawful, proportionate and timely decision‑making.
What you’ll be doing
- Advising on Care Act 2014 matters
- Handling Court of Protection applications and proceedings
- Advising on Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
- Supporting safeguarding, ordinary residence and funding disputes
- Drafting legal advice, reports and court documentation
- Working collaboratively with social work teams and senior officers
What they’re looking for
- Qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or Barrister
- Strong, hands‑on Adult Social Care experience (essential)
- Confident handling Court of Protection and mental capacity matters
- Previous local authority or public sector experience preferred
- Able to hit the ground running in a locum setting
