3-Month Contract with a Local Authority

Summary

  • This role involves providing a professional and compliant specialist customer-facing Homelessness and Housing Solutions service. The focus is on preventing and relieving homelessness through various housing options across different tenure types. The position requires accountability for the Local Authority\’s operations, ensuring compliance with legal obligations to deliver professional housing and homelessness advice services as per relevant legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality Homelessness and Housing Solutions and Advice Services with a focus on equality, diversity, and respect for individual circumstances.
  • Manage a designated caseload by assessing, researching, and applying current case law to homeless applications to make robust legal decisions on behalf of the Council.
  • Write reports with diligence and quality to ensure legal decisions are accurate.
  • Ensure temporary accommodation is provided to applicants in accordance with statutory duties and legislation.
  • Control expenditure prudently, particularly for temporary accommodation and grant funding, maintaining integrity and transparency.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in homelessness, housing options, or a relevant customer advice service.
  • Knowledge of legislation, regulation, and policy related to the service.
  • Experience in providing high-quality customer services to clients with complex issues.
  • Ability to assess and meet people\’s needs and manage expectations.
  • Problem-solving experience through collaboration and partnership working.
  • Experience in call handling and using specialist IT systems.

Essential Qualification Required

  • GCSEs or equivalent, including English, Maths, and/or a second language at Grade A-C.
  • CIH Professional qualification Level 3 or willingness to work towards it is desirable.

Additional Information

  • Working hours: 37 hours per week
  • Hybrid working: 2 days per week
  • Location: Town Hall, Walter Stranz Square, Redditch, B98 8AH
  • DBS is required for the role.
