3 months contract with a Local Authority

Birmingham Children’s Trust is seeking a committed and knowledgeable Practice Model Officer to lead and embed its bespoke Connections Count practice model across the organisation. This position will focus on developing and delivering high-quality learning opportunities rooted in trauma-informed, relationship-based, and developmentally sensitive practice. Working within the Learning and Development Service, the successful candidate will champion reflective practice, support workforce development, and ensure the Trust’s practice model is fully integrated into everyday social work and operational practice.

Key Duties/Accountabilities:

  • Lead the implementation, integration, and ongoing development of the Connections Count practice model across the Trust.
  • Design, deliver, and evaluate bespoke learning and development sessions to meet identified workforce needs.
  • Champion trauma-informed and relational practice through reflective supervision, group consultations, and coaching.
  • Support the development and delivery of trauma-informed and relationship-based practice strategies.
  • Undertake learning needs analysis, and design or commission appropriate learning interventions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, partner agencies, and external training providers (including HEIs and FE Colleges).
  • Ensure lived experience and coproduction are embedded in all learning and development activities.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on training outcomes and workforce development progress.
  • Represent the Learning Academy and the Trust at internal and external forums to promote quality and best practice.
  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion across all areas of work.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legal, regulatory, and data protection requirements.

Skills/Experience:

  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed, relationship-based, and strengths-based practice within children’s social care.
  • Experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating learning and development programmes for social care professionals.
  • In-depth knowledge of social work practice frameworks and current policy and research relating to children’s services.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences.
  • Experience supporting reflective practice and continuous professional learning within a large organisation.
  • Ability to analyse learning needs and translate them into practical workforce development initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with experience of partnership working across agencies.
  • Commitment to quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion principles and their application in workforce development.

Additional Information:

  • The closing date: 01/11/2025 @23:45.
  • Must hold a current Enhanced DBS and be eligible to work in the UK.
  • Hours: 35 per week (08:45–17:15).
