Job Purpose
To put the Neighbourhoods agenda into practice, the Neighbourhood Coordinator will work closely with residents, members, partners and council services to bring about positive changes within neighbourhoods, and foster participation and engagement amongst key stakeholders. The post holder will coordinate and mobilise residents, members, partners and council services to deliver action plans to resolve issues that matter at a local level. The post holder will also encourage greater participation in the work of Empowering Communities Programme and in local decision making, by local residents, in multi-ward and ward meetings.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
- Manage the delivery of Neighbourhoods Fund programme within a locality.
- Support the development of up to three community plans ensuring a consistent format is used and there is consensus across stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, ward councillors, services, and external stakeholders including the Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector in delivering community action plans.
- Ensure participation and engagement across whole neighbourhoods so that action plans are reflective of the issues present within communities and in a way that mobilises the energy of the whole neighbourhood.
- Coordinate activity so that actions contained in community plans are delivered in a timely manner, in full and to a high standard holding people to account where necessary.
- Support the lead Director for each Neighbourhood ensuring the operational delivery of the community plans.
- Provide effective business administration scheduling, during and following neighbourhood meetings, as well as meetings with members and Directors.
- Attend meetings out of office hours as required on an occasional basis dependent on stakeholders’ availability and needs.
Essential Experience Required
- Experience of working with residents and partners at a neighbourhood level is essential.
- Experience of supporting the delivery of projects in a local government setting for example developing and monitoring action plans as a framework to deliver success is essential.
- A relevant degree in an appropriate discipline or qualification or experience of an equivalent academic or professional standard is essential.
Additional information to note
