Job Purpose: The Multi-Skilled Engineer (Plumbing Bias) is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and optimization of plumbing systems and associated mechanical infrastructure. The role requires a proactive, versatile engineer capable of handling multiple engineering disciplines with a primary focus on plumbing systems to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, sewage, and gas pipelines.
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of multi-disciplinary systems (mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing) as required.
- Troubleshoot complex plumbing issues, diagnosing root causes, and implement long-term solutions.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, safety standards, and company policies related to plumbing and mechanical systems.
- Support facility upgrades, retrofits, and new installations with a focus on plumbing and associated systems.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, and inventory of materials and spare parts.
- Collaborate with other engineering and technical teams to resolve cross-functional issues.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers, technicians, and contractors.
- Participate in energy management, water conservation, and sustainability initiatives.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Civil / Plumbing Engineering or equivalent.
- Certified in relevant plumbing or mechanical trade licenses (preferred).
- Proven experience in multi-skilled engineering roles with a strong bias toward plumbing systems.
- Familiarity with building management systems (BMS) is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing codes, safety standards, and best practices.
- Hands-on experience with pumps, valves, pipe systems, water treatment, and drainage systems.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and plumbing drawings and schematics.
- Proficient in preventive and corrective maintenance processes.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- 5+ years of experience in facility maintenance or multi-skilled engineering roles, with at least 3 years focused on plumbing systems.
- Experience in large commercial, industrial, or residential facilities preferred.
- Willingness to work in shifts and respond to emergency breakdowns.
- Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Familiarity with safety and personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols.
