A compassionate and dedicated Nursing Healthcare Assistant (HCA) is required to join the team at Emsworth House, a residential and nursing provision supporting older adults in Hampshire. The role involves providing high-quality personal and emotional care, maintaining dignity and independence, and contributing to the wellbeing and daily comfort of residents. The postholder will work within a multidisciplinary team supporting up to 52 residents and acting as a key worker for a small group, ensuring their care needs and preferences are consistently met.
Key Duties / Accountabilities:
- Provide person-centred care and support to residents in line with individual care plans.
- Support residents with personal care, hygiene, dressing, mobility, and mealtime assistance while promoting dignity and independence.
- Act as a key worker for 36 residents, maintaining close relationships and monitoring wellbeing.
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any concerns to senior staff.
- Assist with daily household duties including cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe comfortable environment.
- Support residents in participating in meaningful activities and community outings.
- Communicate effectively with residents, relatives, colleagues, and healthcare professionals.
- Observe and adhere to safeguarding, confidentiality, infection control, and health and safety standards.
- Follow moving and handling procedures and use appropriate equipment (e.g. hoists, glide sheets).
- Contribute to the emotional and social wellbeing of residents through patience, empathy, and understanding.
Skills / Experience:
- Previous experience in adult residential or nursing care (older persons preferred).
- Knowledge of personal care routines, infection control, and safeguarding.
- Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
- Ability to record and report information accurately.
- Understanding of dignity, respect, and person-centred principles.
- Physically able to assist with moving and handling tasks (training provided).
- Team player with the ability to work flexibly under supervision.
- Aware of residents' emotional and social needs, including those with dementia or complex health conditions.
