Job Description
Role: Fast Track RTA Fee Earner
Location: Wakefield
Working Pattern: Hybrid Working
Salary: £29,500 - £37,000
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Are you an experienced RTA Fee Earner looking for a role where you can move beyond straightforward portal claims and deal with more interesting, technically challenging work?
CRA Consulting are working with a highly established claimant Personal Injury practice in Wakefield that is looking to strengthen its Non-MOJ team with an experienced Fast Track Fee Earner.
This is a great opportunity for someone who already manages their own RTA caseload and wants exposure to complex liability disputes, litigated claims and more challenging injury work, while joining a supportive and well-established team.
Why this opportunity stands out
This isn't simply about processing a high volume of straightforward claims.
You'll have the opportunity to develop your technical ability across both pre- and post-litigation work, including:
- Complex and disputed RTA liability
- Motorcycle accident claims
- Denials of liability
- Multi-site injuries
- Quantum assessment
- Litigation and court proceedings
- Negotiation with insurers and third parties
- Instructing Counsel and medical experts
You'll also benefit from hybrid working, a strong team environment and genuine opportunities to develop your career within Personal Injury litigation.
The Role
You'll take ownership of your own caseload of Fast Track, non-portal RTA claims from progression through to settlement or litigation.
Day to day, you'll be responsible for:
- Managing a busy caseload of pre- and post-litigated RTA claims
- Taking ownership of the client relationship throughout the claim
- Investigating and dealing with disputed liability
- Handling more complex liability arguments, including motorcycle claims
- Reviewing medical evidence and assessing quantum
- Researching relevant case law
- Drafting schedules of special damages
- Assessing PSLA and other heads of loss
- Negotiating settlements with insurers and third parties
- Identifying when litigation is appropriate
- Drafting and issuing court proceedings
- Preparing Directions Questionnaires
- Complying with court directions and deadlines
- Preparing disclosure documentation
- Dealing with telephone hearings
- Instructing Counsel and appropriate experts
It's a role that should appeal to someone who enjoys the technical and tactical side of Personal Injury litigation, rather than simply wanting to process claims.
What we're looking for
Ideally, you'll already have experience managing your own RTA Personal Injury caseload and be comfortable progressing matters with a reasonable degree of independence.
We're particularly interested in speaking with people who have:
- Previous RTA claims experience
- Experience managing their own caseload
- Pre-litigation experience
- Some exposure to litigated claims
- A good understanding of the CPR and litigation process
- Strong negotiation skills
- Experience dealing with liability disputes
- Good organisational and file management skills
- A commercial but client-focused approach
You do not necessarily need to be a qualified Solicitor.
Applications are welcomed from experienced Fee Earners and Litigators, while Solicitors and CILEX-qualified lawyers with the appropriate experience will also be considered.
The Package
You'll receive:
- £29,500 - £37,000 basic salary
- Hybrid working
- Full-time permanent position
- Exposure to quality Fast Track RTA litigation
- Supportive and experienced PI team
- Opportunity to develop your technical litigation experience
- Long-term career development within an established Personal Injury environment
