CRA Consulting is delighted to be working in partnership with a leading Local Authority in Sheffield to recruit an experienced Adult Social Care Locum Lawyer to join their well-established Legal Services team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and collaborative local government legal team, providing high-quality legal advice on complex Adult Social Care matters that have a genuine impact on protecting vulnerable adults. The assignment is offered on an ongoing locum basis, with the potential to secure a permanent position for those seeking longer-term career opportunities.
The Role
- Working closely with Adult Social Care professionals, senior officers and external agencies, you will manage a varied and rewarding caseload, including:
- Court of Protection proceedings
- Mental Capacity Act matters
- Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
- Adult safeguarding matters
- Advising Adult Social Care teams on complex legal issues
- Public law advice and challenges to local authority decision-making
- Preparing legal documents, witness statements and court applications
- Conducting advocacy where appropriate
- Liaising with Counsel, partner organisations and other professionals
About You
- To be considered, you will have:
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive status
- Proven experience handling Adult Social Care matters
- Strong knowledge of Court of Protection and the Mental Capacity Act
- The ability to independently manage a busy and varied caseload
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Previous Local Authority experience is desirable but not essential
