CRA Consulting is working with a large, well-established public sector organisation in South Yorkshire to recruit an experienced Adult Social Care Lawyer for an initial 3-month locum assignment, starting January 2026. This is a strong opportunity to join a supportive, experienced in-house legal team, with a realistic caseload, clear processes, and a steady pipeline of adult social care work.
The Role
You’ll provide legal advice and case support across a broad range of Adult Social Care matters, working closely with social workers, managers, and senior stakeholders to support lawful, proportionate decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Advising on Care Act 2014 matters
- Managing Court of Protection applications and proceedings
- Advising on Mental Capacity Act and DoLS
- Supporting safeguarding, ordinary residence, and funding disputes
- Drafting legal advice, reports, and court documentation
- Working collaboratively with social care teams and senior officers
About You
- Qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or Barrister
- Hands-on Adult Social Care experience (essential)
- Confident handling Court of Protection and mental capacity matters
- Previous local authority / public sector experience preferred
- Comfortable stepping into a locum role and hitting the ground running
