⚖️ Serious Injury Lawyer
📍 Location: Wakefield + Hybrid
💷 Salary Range: £35,000 – £55,000

🔎 What’s the Role?
You’ll manage a portfolio of claimant serious injury claims (predominantly RTA) with case values typically ranging from £125k to £250k.
You’ll also:
- 👥 Mentor & Support the Serious Injury team, sharing your knowledge and expertise.
- 🌱 Drive Growth by acting as an ambassador for the department, shaping its strategic direction and reputation.
🔥 Core Responsibilities
- 💙 Client Care: Offer outstanding support to individuals who’ve suffered traumatic, life-altering events.
- 👩⚖️ Team Leadership: Assist your Team Leader in motivating and guiding the team toward clear objectives and KPIs, including handling performance and development plans.
- 🔍 Technical & Case Reviews: Conduct in-depth case reviews, provide feedback, and mentor team members for continuous improvement.
- 🤝 Client Meetings: Maintain regular communication (including face-to-face) with clients to keep them informed and supported.
- 🌐 Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with a range of experts—medical professionals, case managers, care experts, architects, forensic accountants, and counsel.
- 📝 Drafting Documents: Prepare statements, pleadings, schedules of loss, and more.
- 💸 Securing Settlements: Obtain early interim payments and the best possible outcomes for clients.
- ⚙️ Efficiency: Utilize a task-based case management system for top-notch service and clear communication.
- 📣 Business Development: Raise your professional profile by networking (e.g., with APIL, Headway, SIA), writing articles, giving testimonials, and increasing departmental awareness.
- 🌟 Mentorship: Develop junior team members, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment.
- 🏆 Target-Oriented: Thrive under targets while delivering impeccable work quality.
⭐ Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- KPIs and objectives will be discussed in one-on-ones with your line manager.
- Regular reviews ensure you stay on track, highlighting areas for development and support.
👩💼 Person Specification
Essential
- Qualified Solicitor or Fellow of CILEx with 4+ years PQE (or equivalent) suitable for charging Grade B rates.
- Proven track record in serious injury claims; strong technical acumen and in-depth court procedure knowledge.
- Committed to delivering first-class client care.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and objection-handling skills.
- Able to balance objectives in a dynamic environment while maintaining high work quality.
- Confident with case management systems, Excel, and Word.
- Sharp attention to detail and stellar organizational skills.
Desirable
- A great team player who motivates colleagues and has prior experience mentoring in multi-track personal injury.
- Ready to boost your profile in the personal injury sector, ideally with links to bodies like Headway, SIA, APIL, etc.
- Positive, proactive mindset—flexible, resilient, and eager to hit targets.
