A highly regarded regional law firm is seeking a Newly Qualified Employment Solicitor to join its growing Employment team. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor at the start of their career to join an established and supportive department handling a broad mix of contentious and non-contentious employment matters. The successful candidate will benefit from high-quality work, direct client exposure and genuine long-term career progression prospects.

The Role

You will advise both individuals and businesses on a wide range of employment law matters and work closely with experienced employment specialists on more complex cases. The role offers the opportunity to develop expertise across all aspects of employment law while building strong client relationships and contributing to the continued growth of the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a varied caseload of employment matters with appropriate supervision.
  • Advising employee clients on:
    • Unfair dismissal
    • Wrongful dismissal
    • Discrimination claims
    • Whistleblowing matters
    • Redundancy issues
    • Settlement agreements
    • Grievance and disciplinary procedures
  • Advising employer clients on:
    • Employment contracts and staff handbooks
    • HR and workplace issues
    • Disciplinary and grievance procedures
    • Redundancy and restructuring exercises
    • Employment Tribunal claims
    • Day-to-day employment law support
  • Assisting senior lawyers with complex Employment Tribunal litigation.
  • Drafting legal documents, witness statements, pleadings and settlement agreements.
  • Representing clients at preliminary hearings and case management discussions where appropriate.
  • Developing and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Supporting business development, networking and marketing initiatives.

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales (or due to qualify within the next six months).
  • Completion of an Employment Law seat during training contract or equivalent employment law experience.
  • Strong technical understanding of employment law.
  • Excellent communication and client-care skills.
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to client service.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
  • Exposure to Employment Tribunal work.
  • Advocacy experience.
  • Experience advising both claimant and respondent clients.
  • Interest in networking and business development activities.
