A highly respected and long-established Yorkshire law firm is seeking a Contentious Probate Paralegal to join its growing Dispute Resolution team in York. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious paralegal with litigation or private client experience to develop a specialist career within the increasingly busy and rewarding field of contentious probate.

Working alongside experienced solicitors who specialise in inheritance and estate disputes, you will assist on a broad range of matters including:

  • Inheritance Act claims
  • Will validity disputes
  • Executor and trustee disputes
  • Claims involving undue influence, lack of capacity and lack of knowledge and approval
  • Proprietary estoppel and trust-related claims

The Role

You will play a key role in supporting fee earners throughout the lifecycle of contentious probate matters, including:

  • Managing and progressing case files
  • Drafting correspondence, witness statements and court documents
  • Conducting legal research
  • Liaising with clients, counsel, experts and third parties
  • Preparing bundles and supporting mediation and court proceedings
  • Assisting with disclosure exercises and evidence gathering
  • Maintaining case management systems and ensuring compliance with procedural deadlines

About You

Applications are welcomed from candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Previous experience as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant or Fee Earner
  • Experience within litigation, contentious probate, private client or dispute resolution work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail
  • A proactive and client-focused approach
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Candidates with a law degree, LPC, SQE studies or equivalent legal qualifications are encouraged to apply, although practical experience will be considered equally.
