Are you an experienced Personal Injury Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive looking for a predominantly home-based role and the opportunity to move into a specialist area of claimant litigation?

Due to continued growth, the firm is looking to recruit an experienced litigator to join its specialist military claims team.

Previous military claims experience would be welcomed but is not essential. Applications are actively encouraged from lawyers with strong post-litigation experience across EL/PL, Personal Injury or Industrial Disease.

Why this opportunity stands out

One of the biggest attractions is the flexibility.

This is a predominantly home-based position, allowing you to manage interesting and complex claimant litigation without the expectation of travelling into an office several days each week.

You'll join an experienced and supportive specialist team while developing expertise in military injury claims.

For an EL/PL, Industrial Disease or PI lawyer looking for something different while retaining the litigation element of their career, this is an excellent opportunity.

The Role

You will manage your own caseload of military injury claims across both pre-litigation and litigated matters.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a caseload of military injury claims
  • Handling pre and post-litigation matters
  • Analysing liability, causation, quantum and evidence
  • Developing appropriate case strategies
  • Corresponding with clients, insurers and solicitors
  • Liaising with Counsel and medical experts
  • Obtaining and reviewing medical and expert evidence
  • Preparing witness statements
  • Drafting litigation documentation
  • Advising clients throughout their claims
  • Conducting settlement negotiations
  • Representing clients at court where required
  • Meeting court directions and procedural deadlines
  • Supporting and supervising other fee earners where required
  • Maintaining high standards of client care and SRA compliance

What we're looking for

The successful candidate will ideally be a qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with experience in claimant litigation.

Military claims or Industrial Disease experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

The firm is equally interested in speaking with lawyers from backgrounds including:

  • Employers' Liability
  • Public Liability
  • Industrial Disease
  • Personal Injury
  • Multi-Track PI
  • Complex claimant litigation

You should have:

  • Strong experience managing litigated claims
  • Good knowledge of civil litigation procedure
  • Strong drafting and evidence-analysis skills
  • Experience preparing witness evidence
  • Excellent client care and communication skills
  • The ability to manage deadlines and your own caseload
  • The ability to work independently from home

Experience using Proclaim would be helpful but is not essential.

Predominantly Home-Based Working

This is a genuinely flexible opportunity for an experienced lawyer looking to move away from a traditional office-based working pattern.

You will predominantly work from home and be trusted to manage your own caseload while remaining part of a collaborative specialist team.

Occasional attendance may be required for court hearings, meetings, training or at the firm's office when necessary.

For somebody looking to reduce their commute and achieve a better work/life balance without compromising on the quality of their litigation work, this is a particularly attractive opportunity.

The Package

  • Salary of £40,000 - £55,000 DOE
  • Predominantly home-based working
  • 24 days' annual leave plus Bank Holidays
  • Additional birthday leave
  • Healthcare plan available
  • Professional fees/subscriptions covered where applicable
  • Employee referral scheme
  • Client referral scheme
  • Ongoing professional development
  • Opportunity to develop specialist military claims expertise
