CRA Consulting is pleased to be representing a highly regarded law firm in the recruitment of a Family Solicitor to join its established Family Law team in Cambridgeshire .
This is a great opportunity for a Newly Qualified Solicitor or Solicitor with up to two years’ PQE who is looking to progress their career within family law and gain experience across a varied and rewarding caseload.
Joining a supportive and experienced team, you’ll benefit from hands-on experience, quality supervision and ongoing development while building your confidence in managing your own clients and matters.

The Role
Working alongside experienced family practitioners, you’ll assist with a varied caseload and gradually take ownership of your own matters.
You’ll advise and support individuals and families through often complex and sensitive legal issues, developing your skills across a broad range of family work.
The role will provide plenty of opportunity to gain practical experience, attend hearings and build strong client relationships.
You’ll receive continued guidance from senior colleagues while being encouraged to develop your own expertise and professional style.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with and manage a varied caseload of family law matters.
- Provide clear, practical advice to clients on sensitive family-related issues.
- Support clients through financial and relationship breakdown matters.
- Deal with applications and proceedings relating to children and wider family disputes.
- Attend court hearings, client meetings and conferences where required.
- Draft legal documents, statements, applications and correspondence.
- Liaise with barristers, courts, experts and other relevant professionals.
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure matters are progressed efficiently.
- Deliver a high standard of client care throughout each stage of a matter.
- Work in accordance with relevant professional, regulatory and procedural requirements.
About You
The successful candidate will
- Be a qualified Solicitor in England & Wales or due to qualify shortly.
- Have a genuine interest in developing a career within family law.
- Have gained relevant experience during their training contract, previous employment, paralegal work or legal placements.
- Possess excellent communication and client-care skills.
- Be organised, commercially aware and able to manage competing priorities.
- Approach sensitive matters with empathy, professionalism and resilience.
- Be keen to learn and develop within a supportive team.
Experience in one or more of the following would be beneficial
- Private family law matters.
- Children and family proceedings.
- Financial remedy work.
- Court attendance and advocacy.
- Legal Aid or publicly funded family work.
- Managing your own caseload or assisting on complex family matters.
