We are working with a fast-growing, acquisitive retail business based in Bradford that is entering an exciting period of continued expansion.
As the business grows both organically and through acquisition, they are looking to appoint an experienced Management Accountant to strengthen the finance function and play a key role in supporting the wider business.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded accountant who enjoys working in a high-growth, fast-paced environment and wants to take ownership of the management accounting process while gaining exposure to acquisitions and business growth.
The Role
Reporting to the senior finance team, you will take responsibility for the production of accurate and insightful management accounts, providing key financial information to support decision-making across the business.
Your responsibilities will include
- Preparing monthly management accounts and associated reporting packs.
- Producing detailed P&L analysis, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Providing meaningful commentary and insight into financial performance.
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
- Working closely with operational and commercial teams to understand business performance.
- Investigating variances and identifying opportunities to improve profitability and financial control.
- Supporting the integration and reporting of newly acquired businesses.
- Improving and streamlining management accounting processes and controls.
- Assisting with year-end accounts and audit requirements.
- Providing ad-hoc financial analysis and commercial insight to senior management.
- Contributing to the continued development of the finance function as the business grows.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Management Accountant who can demonstrate strong technical accounting skills alongside a commercial and hands-on approach.
You will ideally have
- A recognised professional accounting qualification — ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified .
- Experience producing monthly management accounts from start to finish.
- Strong understanding of P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting.
- Excellent analytical and Excel skills.
- The ability to investigate financial performance and communicate findings clearly.
- A commercially focused mindset and a willingness to get involved beyond the numbers.
- Experience working in a fast-paced or growing business.
- Ideally, experience within retail, multi-site or acquisitive environments , although this is not essential.
- The confidence and ability to work with stakeholders at all levels.
