Role: Serious Injury Fee Earner - Grade C
We are working with a leading law firm based in Wakefield who are looking to appoint a Serious Injury Fee Earner - Grade C to join their established serious injury team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced legal professional to take responsibility for an interesting and varied caseload of claimant serious injury matters, working alongside experienced fee earners and a wider team of legal professionals.
The Role
As a Serious Injury Fee Earner - Grade C, you will support the progression and management of a portfolio of complex serious injury claims, predominantly arising from road traffic accidents.
The role will involve matters where liability, causation and quantum can be complex, with claim values typically ranging from £200,000 to £1 million.
You will take ownership of agreed elements of cases, ensuring matters progress efficiently and clients receive a high level of service throughout their claim.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the progression and management of a portfolio of serious injury claims.
- Taking responsibility for agreed aspects of cases and ensuring key deadlines and milestones are met.
- Undertaking chargeable legal work and carrying out legal research as required.
- Reviewing and analysing evidence relating to liability, causation and quantum.
- Drafting statements, pleadings, schedules of loss and other legal documentation.
- Liaising directly with clients and maintaining regular communication throughout the claims process.
- Working closely with medical and other experts, including case managers, care experts, accountants, architects and counsel.
- Assisting with interim payments, rehabilitation and settlement negotiations.
- Maintaining accurate and comprehensive case records.
- Ensuring the firm's case management system is kept fully up to date.
- Supporting client meetings, conferences and settlement meetings.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and contributing to the wider development of the team.
- Providing support and guidance to more junior members of the team where appropriate.
About You
We are keen to hear from experienced legal professionals with a background in serious injury or complex personal injury work.
You will have a good understanding of the complexities involved in serious injury claims and be confident communicating with clients, experts, counsel and other professional stakeholders.
Ideally, you will have
- Experience assisting with or managing serious injury claims.
- A strong understanding of liability, causation and quantum.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and organisational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a busy and varied caseload.
- Experience using case management systems, Microsoft Word and Excel.
- A genuine commitment to client care and delivering high-quality work.
- The ability to work effectively within a target-driven environment.
- A proactive approach and the confidence to take ownership of your work.
