Role: Personal Injury Fee Earner
Location: UK (fully remote)
Salary: £29,000 - £37,000
Contract: Full time, permanent, remote
We are looking for a proactive and experienced Fast Track Fee Earner to join a busy personal injury team. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of road traffic accident claims, taking responsibility for matters from initial instruction through to settlement and, where appropriate, into litigation.
The role requires a strong understanding of personal injury litigation, excellent client management skills and the ability to progress a high-volume caseload efficiently while maintaining a high standard of service and compliance.
Key Requirements
- Previous experience of independently managing a caseload of road traffic accident claims, including pre-litigation matters.
- Strong working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) and the wider litigation process.
- Qualification as a Solicitor or CILEX practitioner with relevant practising rights is desirable.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines across a substantial caseload.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, combined with a high level of attention to detail.
- Confidence using case management systems and standard Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to develop and implement effective case strategies.
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a wider team.
- A practical, solution-focused approach to resolving issues and progressing claims.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and keeping up to date with relevant legal and procedural developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a substantial caseload of pre- and post-litigation road traffic accident claims, including non-portal matters, progressing each case efficiently towards settlement or litigation where appropriate.
- Take full ownership of client relationships, ensuring clients receive clear advice, regular updates and appropriate support throughout their claim.
- Assess and progress more challenging liability disputes, including motorcycle claims and cases involving disputed or denied liability.
- Evaluate quantum by reviewing medical evidence, assessing injuries and researching relevant authorities where required, particularly in cases involving multiple or complex injuries.
- Prepare schedules of special damages and assess appropriate levels of compensation for pain, suffering and loss of amenity, together with other applicable heads of loss.
- Conduct negotiations with insurers, third parties and their representatives to secure appropriate settlements within agreed timescales.
- Identify cases where litigation may be appropriate and take the necessary steps to progress those matters.
- Draft and issue court proceedings where required.
- Complete direction questionnaires and ensure compliance with court orders, procedural requirements and relevant deadlines.
- Prepare documentation for disclosure and deal with evidential requirements throughout the litigation process.
- Participate in telephone and other hearings as required.
- Prepare and submit evidence in support of clients' claims.
- Instruct Counsel, experts and other appropriate professionals where necessary.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive case records in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Manage workload effectively to ensure targets, service standards and key procedural deadlines are consistently achieved.
