An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior Litigator / Litigation & Debt Recovery Executive to join a growing and dynamic legal team specialising in debt recovery, defended litigation and dispute resolution. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their litigation experience within a busy and supportive legal environment. You will assist with and manage a varied caseload of defended matters across small claims, fast-track and multi-track proceedings, gaining exposure to the full litigation process from initial assessment through to resolution. The role would suit a proactive and organised individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, managing a busy caseload and getting involved in the practical day-to-day progression of litigation matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and progressing a caseload of defended litigation matters across small claims, fast-track and multi-track proceedings.
- Assisting with the review of pre-legal accounts and assessing the suitability of matters for litigation and recovery.
- Drafting and preparing pleadings, witness statements, applications and other court documentation.
- Preparing and reviewing trial bundles and supporting the progression of matters towards hearings and trial.
- Liaising with clients to provide updates on case progress, recovery prospects and potential next steps.
- Communicating with courts, enforcement agents, insolvency practitioners and other external parties to progress matters efficiently.
- Assisting with insolvency-related work, including Bankruptcy Petitions and Winding Up Petitions.
- Dealing with Return of Goods claims and related enforcement activity.
- Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring deadlines and follow-up actions are managed effectively.
- Working closely with more senior members of the team and supporting the wider litigation function.
- Contributing to the continued growth and development of the legal department.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be a motivated and commercially aware legal professional with an interest in developing a career within litigation and debt recovery. You will ideally have some experience of litigation, debt recovery, civil procedure or dispute resolution, although candidates with a strong legal background and a genuine interest in moving into litigation will also be considered. You should be confident communicating with clients and third parties, well organised and comfortable working to deadlines within a high-volume environment. A practical, proactive approach and a willingness to learn will be key to succeeding in the role. Experience in debt recovery, defended litigation, insolvency or commercial recoveries would be advantageous, but full support and development will be available.
